In Praise of my Slippers

I’ve had every kind of slipper

Sexy leopard print to black

I’ve loved them all with passion

‘Cos my slippers have my back

*

Shoes can be disloyal

They will rub and pinch and nip

They make your gait uneven

Like they mean for you to trip

*

You don’t get that with slippers

They would never do you harm

When I feel their furry insole

I’m immediately calm

*

I can walk into a chair leg

And never break a toe

And they grip the wooden flooring

As I scurry to and fro

*

I might sound like a nanna

Since I really want to yell

That I bloody love my slippers

Despite their rancid smell
